NEVER SAY "I would love to travel with my work.."

If you are an experienced business traveller, you would likely have heard this remark from your friends and family from time to time.

But guess what….

If you are exhibiting at a trade show in Paris, then you are not strolling around the Eiffel Tower and sipping champagne in a deckchair near the Louvre all day long.

You will have the great joy of an overpacked train to and from the city and will be standing in an building with no natural daylight for early morning till late night.

If you get a quick snack during the day or manage having a quick run to the bathroom it can be easily the only personal freedom you see in a 10h day.

The fresh oysters in cold white wine at courtyard on Rue Honore also are far away, when you are stuck in a traffic jam for hours, because a taxi seemed like the perfect alternative to avoid, the armpit of an hard working luggage handler from Charles de Gaulles Airport getting home from work.

The 37 hour commute from an overseas sales trip, being stuck in Economy having only airline meals and airport snack is also does not what reminds me of a gourmet food experience or the joy and home cooking.

The examples are plenty and I could go on for hours, should you be seated next to me at a social gathering and after the first small talk of "what do you do for a living" be foolish enough to follow up with "I would love to travel with my work".

I would do my very best to scare you to keep your current day job, so I can continue to keep my LOVE OF TRAVELING FOR WORK FOR MYSELF.

Having had more than 18 years of the above, I must have a regular fix and when looking back at the first 21 years of networking and friendships being made, I respectfully look forward to the coming 21 years or more.
